About - Spartacus was in the prime of his grand prix career, when he sadly died suddenly from a colic attack in July 2016. He is still available frozen on excellent terms, and is a valuable addition to any breeding programme. Spartacus stood out as a competition stallion with his quick reflexes, boundless scope and excellent technique.
Performance - The week prior to his death, Spartacus came third in the Arnhem Grand Prix under Henk van der Pol for The Netherlands. Over his career, he won the Oslo Rikstoto Grand Prix, was second in the Geneva Credit Suisse Grand Prix and in the World Cup class at Leipzig. He was sixth in the Geneva World Cup qualifier in 2012, fifth in the Pezinok World Cup leg, and jumped on numerous Nations Cup teams and on the Global Champions Tour. Spartacus and Eric van der Vleuten were the eyecatchers of the VHO trophy and the international show of Roggel in 2011. After that they had many good performances such as fourth in the Grand Prix of Hengelo, third in the Grand Prix of Roggel, fourth in the Grand Prix of Assen, and fourth in the Grand Prix of Bruanschweig.
Sire - In the pedigree of Spartacus we see an accumulation of the very best Hanoverian jumping blood. His sire Stakkato had a successful international career under Eva Bitter until the age of 18, and he is eye-catching as a sire of international showjumpers. He jumped on the Nations Cup team at St. Gallen and was placed and recorded clear rounds in numerous classes at 1.40m-1.50m level. Stakkato's sire Spartan adds the sought-after blood of foundation sire Gottard, while his damsire Pygmalion was one of four licensed sons from the same mare. Stakkato is the sire of more than 40 grand prix jumping horses and almost 100 licensed sons.
Damline - Damsire Grannus belongs to the all time greats of European jumping breeding. Via the combination of Stakkato and Grannus the jumping blood of both Gotthard and Goldfisch II respectively are three and five times firmly anchored in Spartacus' pedigree. Spartacus' dam Galina also produced the international showjumper Elton John, who was very successful with Hergen Forkert. The pedigree goes back via the lines of the stallions Colorado and Granit to the mare Wartburg, who also performed very successfully in the international jumping arena herself under the name of Welfengläck.The offspring of Wartburg includes the famous sporting stallion Lasangos (Latus I) ridden by Princess Haya.
Progeny - The first offspring of Spartacus are long-lined foals with blood. They know very well how to jump, with quick reflexes and a super technique. He has five licensed sons, including Castlefield Wizard, who is jumping at 1.35m level, and his oldest offspring are now successfully jumping internationally, with Spectrum recording several placings in 1.50m classes.
